Introduction - Who am I

                                        Digital Economy News HD 2023

Hey Guys, my name is Hannah Dunphy and welcome to my blog " Digital Economy News HD 2023".Today I am going to tell you all about myself and my experience on work placement last year as part of my college course.

As I previously said, my name is Hannah Dunphy and I am 21 years old and I am from a village called Mullinavat in the south of Kilkenny. I started college at SETU (formally WIT) in 2020, where I am studying Bachelor of Business. For my first year of college , all of my lectures were carried out on Zoom, this was a challenge for me as I didn't know anyone in my class and I had to get used to Moodle and Zoom.

In 3rd year in my course, we have to pick a specialization that you must carry out for 3rd and 4th year. I specialized in Accounting as I had enjoyed the accounting modules in 1st and 2nd year. For the 2nd semester in 3rd year, my course went on work placements in companies all around the country. I went to an accounting practice called Fitzgerald Power Accountants in Waterford City.

During my time at Fitzgearld Power, I used a lot of different technology systems on a day to day basis to carry out my duties. Almost every day I used "Microsoft Teams" where I would talk and work along side my colleagues who worked in the other offices or at home. Every week I had to upload my hours worked on to a data base system called "CCH". Another website that I used on my placement was "Auto Task", which would read all the Bank Statements that I had uploaded and would transfer them to an excel sheet. I would then be able to transfer the figures to the appropriate accounts to prepare the year end accounts.I also used a website called "Relate" where I would upload the final figures for a company to produce their end of year accounts. I used a website called "Doc U Sign" where I would upload a company's year end accounts it would then be sent by email to the owners, and they could then sign final accounts. There was also different data bases that I used for certain sectors, Acquaint for Estate agents and Harvest which was for Solicitors. All these Data Bases and Website have made the companies day to day business more efficient.

During my time at Fitzgeard Power I worked along side very nice people and I made lots of friends.Due to the company having two offices in Waterford, every month both offices would meet up for breakfast or lunch where we all got to gather and chat to each other.

Fitzgearld Power also celebrated international women's day while I was on placement, where they gave out cupcakes to all the women and organised a photo shoot of all the women that work at the practice, and uploaded to their Facebook and website.

Here is a link to a video I was included in, to promote the Graduate Programme for 2024.
